Mississippi Designated Agent Surety Bond

In the state of MS, licensed Designated Agents have the ability to perform titling duties of motor vehicles and/or manufactured homes for the MS Department of Revenue (DOR).  Designated Agents perform these duties on behalf of County Tax Collectors, Licensed Motor Vehicle Dealers, Licensed Manufactured Home Dealers, Title Pledge Lenders, Financial Institutions like Banks, Credit Unions and Finance Companies.

In order to become a designated agent with the Mississippi DOR, licensees must complete the on-line application for each location, provide a Surety bond for the amount of $5,000 (non motor vehicle dealers) or $15,000 (motor vehicle dealers) that is payable to the Mississippi DOR from a surety company that is licensed to transact business in the state of Mississippi. Before any application is approved, the original bond must be received by MS DOR.

Once the application for designated agent has been approved, you will receive a notification pertaining to your designated agent status and a printable version of your Certificate of Designated Agent for your records.
