Under the Texas Occupations Code, Chapter 1803, Public Safety Publications (PSP) are required to register with the Texas Secretary of State, and ppost a $10,000 Public Safety Publication Solicitors License Surety Bond.
If a registrant uses a public safety solicitor, the solicitor must file a separate Independent Promoters License Surety Bond with the Secretary of State and post a $10,000 surety bond.
A Public Safety Publication is a nongovernmental publication with a name that includes the term "officer," "peace officer," "police officer," "police," "law enforcement," "reserve officer," "deputy," "deputy sheriff," "constable," "deputy constable," "fireman," "firefighter," "volunteer fireman," "emergency medical service provider," "civilian employee," or any other term in a manner that would reasonably imply that the publication is published by a public safety organization or benefits public safety.
