The "Tennessee Application of Pesticides Act", otherwise known as "TAPA", the "Tennessee Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act" also known as "TIFRA" and the "Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act" otherwise known as "FIFRA" governs the custom application of pesticides.   

TAPA requires that any company providing or offering for sale the custom application of a pesticide or pestacides in the State of Tennessee to have a pest control charter.  The charter is a license or permit issued by the TN Department of Agriculture to a business, and is required for each business location. For example, if a company has an 2 office locations in Tennessee, each location would be required to have its own seperate charter.

Each Pest Control charter requires the following bond

• $10,000.00 Pest Control / Eradication of Weeds License Surety Bond (per location). 
• $50,000.00 Pest Control / Eradication of Weeds License Surety Bond for new companies holding a Wood Destroying Organisms (WDO), General Pest and Rodent Control (GRC), Fumigation (FUM), or Bird Control (BDC) license (per location).
