Anyone who is working or wanting to work in the state of Oregon for monetary compensation in any construction or contracting activity that involves improvements to real property is required to be licensed as a contractor in accordance with Chapter 701 of the Oregon Revised Statutes.  In order to secure your license, the Oregon Construction Contractors Board (ORCCB) requires that the licensee provide a Contractors License bond in an amount as required by the contractors specific endorsement.  If you are unsure of your specific requirement, please refer to the ORCCB's website for additional information. 

How much do Oregon Contractors License Bonds cost?

As with any surety bond, the rate, or cost, of the bond is dependent upon the risk it is covering.  Oregon contractors bonds range between 1-1.2% and are instant issue for bonds under $25,000.  Bonds over $25,000 will require a credit report on the principal owners of the business and will be charged the same rate as long as their credit qualifies.  Accounts with credit issues can still get a bond through our non standard or damaged credit bonding program.  

What are the Oregon Residential Contractors License Bond Requirements?

Contractors with a residential endorsement may work on residential and small commercial structures. What are the Oregon Commercial Contractors License Bond Requirements?

Contractors with a Commercial Endorsement may work on both large and small commercial projects. Each endorsement has a seperate surety bond requirement based upon the work allowed under the license classification.

Construction Flagging Contractors License Bonds

Oregon requires Construction Flagging Contractors to post and maintain a $20,000 Construction Flagging Contractor Bond as part of the required license.  A construction flagging contractor directs the flow of traffic on a public road way to prevent issues between the construction activity taking place and the ordinary flow of traffic on the roadway.  Licensing requirements for construction flagging contractors can be found  on the OR CCB's website

What are the Oregon Landscape Contractors License Bond Requirements?
