Florida DMEPOS - Surety Bond- Supplier of Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics and Supplies
In 2009 the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) ruled that certain Durable Medical Equipment Prosthetics, Orthotics and Suppliers (DMEPOS) must obtain and maintain a DMEPOS Surety bond for each National Provider Identifier (NPI) in order to participate in the program. The ruling requires that a minimum surety bond of $50,000.00 must be provided for each location and allows for the CMS to require a larger bond amount for licensees that are currently or have been out of compliance in the past. All suppliers enrolled with the National Supplier Clearing house (NSC) must provide and maintain a DMEPOS Surety Bond.
Pharmacies that are enrolled as DMEPOS suppliers and bill DME MAC for non-accredited products are also required to obtain and maintain a DMEPOS Surety Bond.
